HOW IT WORKS FOR YOUR CLIENTS

  1. Buy XO:

    Your client buys XO from Centrum (through you) and instead of paying for it with money, they pay with a service-in-kind (agreeing to make XO available for distribution to the public, which includes their customers, to whom they can give XO as a loyalty reward).

    They also separately pay a cash admin fee to Centrum — 20% of the total XO purchase value for large UK businesses and 14% for smaller ones (this may be different in other countries). Your commission is paid from this admin fee.

  2. Use XO for Loyalty Rewards:

    They then distribute XO to their customers as loyalty rewards, either on its own or with their other reward programmes.

  3. Tax Savings:

    When they make their XO fully available to their customers, their XO purchase cost — including the monetary value of the service-in-kind agreement, even though not paid for with money — qualifies (subject to applicable rules) as a fully deductible marketing expense, enabling them to realise immediate net financial benefits through potential tax savings.

    Deal Example an immediate net financial benefit of £100,000

    A business purchases £1 million worth of XO and instead of paying for it with cash, it agrees to make it available for distribution to its customers (a service valued at £1m, the fair market value of which is independently verified). It also pays a £200,000 cash admin fee (assume it's a large UK business with sufficient existing taxable profits, so it pays 20% of the total XO purchase value in admin fees).

    By doing this, its £1 million cost of acquiring XO (even though not paid for with cash) + the £200K cash admin fee then becomes eligible for immediate (marketing cost) tax deductions. Assuming a 25% tax rate, this results in £300,000 in tax savings. Subtracting the £200,000 admin fee (cash outflow) from the tax savings leaves a net financial benefit of £100,000
